Some people unwind with a nice, long bubble bath. Others prefer a sound bath.
What exactly are sound baths? It is an immersion in sound frequency that cleans the soul, and in this case, the sound frequency of the Himalayan Singing Bowls. Many described it that they feel like they are being submerged in sound, like the sound waves created by the singing bowls are a visceral thing and they are washed in waves of water. They use words like “cleansed” and “cleared” to describe their experience.
At The 1 Space, we use 14 hand-hammered full moon singing bowls of various sizes, corresponding to each of your chakras in our sound bath sessions. These singing bowls resonate with a pure, healing sound and create a special vibration when struck or strummed. The vibrations are similar to those of the brain’s alpha waves, and they oscillate with an energetically high frequency.
The sound of the hand-hammered singing bowls has an effect on brain-wave frequencies and can help bring the brain into a Theta state within minutes. (Theta waves occur during REM sleep, hypnosis and deep meditation.) At the same time, the vibrations that emit from the bowls provide a massage right down to the cellular level, thus helping to repair, harmonize and bring balance to the body.
What can you do to get ready for your sound bath session? There isn’t much to prepare except to take note of the following.
- Arrive slightly earlier so you can relax into the calm of the space.
- Wear something comfortable.
- If you tend to feel cold, please bring something to keep warm.
- Bring along a bottle of water to keep hydrated. Sound waves carry on in water, and the more hydrated you are, the more likely the frequencies will have a penetrating effect.
Due to space limit, registration is required to reserve your mat space.
